So...
It's June already.
Meaning that we have made it halfway through 2015. It feels weird how time passes by. It feels like yesterday I just graduated from middle school and dyed my hair for the first time. But nope. It's been almost a year since I had the tip of my hair bleached with peroxide and dye it flaming red. And now I miss my red hair. So badly. I am so looking forward to graduate from high school so I can dye and style my hair however I want without getting into any trouble.
Okay, enough with the blabber.
My intention to write this post at the first place was to tell you about my favourite albums and artists that I discovered throughout the first 6 months of 2015. I created my 8tracks account on 2013 but just been active on it recently. I also just created a last.fm account recently and have been scrobbling/wandering through those sites quite a lot and I discovered quite a lot of artists that I've never heard of before which is contenting and enchanting.
I've heard of The Wombats before since they were all over my tumblr dashboard but, I actually never really bothered to listen to their music. Then, one day a photo of their new album cover got into my instagram's explore page. I wasn't really doing anything back then so I checked them out, and turns out, I dig their music. And I also ended up reading an article about them on Pitchfork.
My favourite from this album is definitely Greek Tragedy. I find the chorus very catchy and soothing in some ways. Also bravo to the director for making such a great music video! Psychotic, dreamy, and cool for a first impression! The video has a late 90's or early 2000's vibe. The settings, the properties that they used, everything really, makes me feel like watching a music video of a 90's grunge band. Watching this video makes me want to put on dark lips, smokey eyes, and wear a choker around my neck. (Talking about smokey eyes, Urban Decay just released a new Naked eye-shadows palette called Smokey and it makes me drool and cry because I can't purchase it but it's so pretty.)
the look that i would wear if i ever get the chance to catch the wombats live
All Time Low a.k.a. the loves of my life released a new album last April called Future Hearts. I still find Don't Panic as my favourite album of them but still, I can not resist to not tap my feet while listening to the songs in it and the urge to do a headbang is still there. My favourite track from this album is Old Scars/Future Hearts. I immediately fell in love with this song when I first heard it. It's like love at the first sight. But with your ears.
Have I told you that the Queen has returned? Yes. Florence + The Machine is finally back with her new album called How Big How Blue How Beautiful.
I find it very crazy how a two-minutes and forty-one-seconds long with a 6-words-lyrics song actually drives me crazy. Crazy in love. Her voice, the music, the video. Everything about it drives me crazy and makes me want to go on a runaway to somewhere far from home with a great view of the sky.
The next bands that I just discovered are Wolf Alice and Slaves. And I feel so bad for just discovering them because they are hella good. Like real good.
A band with a female vocalist with a unique voice and songs that never fail to make me tapping my feet to the floor and shake my head and make me fantasize about being in a band. How can I not love them?
Slaves. A two-piece punk band from the UK. Listen to this song on a Monday and imagine that you're actually living in London. Or maybe just replaced the London part with the name of the city that you currently lives in while singing to it. Listening to them makes me want to move my butt to the UK already so I can catch them live on tour.
My favourite girl-group, Little Mix just released a new song for their upcoming album called Dark Magic.
The song is very catchy and all as usual but, just like what's stated here on RookieMag, I wish the video had showed them using their powers for something more empowering rather than embarrassing and imposing the antagonist characters. But on the brighter side, because of this video and RookieMag post about it, I found out about the movie The Craft from 1996 and I watched it right away even though I was supposed to by studying for the exams.
