#TravelThrowback - Medan 2015

02:48

I woke up half an hour before my alarm rang. Excitement was all over my body and distracted me to having enough sleep. I set my alarm to wake me up at 4 a.m.. But oh well, it's better to be early than late and that gave me more time to get ready. I left my bed and started to get ready even though the cold ambience of the dawn was perfect to build a blanket cocoon. I had a quick shower and changed and put on something nice and made myself a quick breakfast. At 4.30 I was ready and my dad drove me to the airport.

I arrived at the airport at 5 and most of my friend were there. I was the only girl, though. The sky was so pretty and I couldn't help not to take a picture of it. I took lots of pictures but only one that looked decent. We took the 7 a.m. flight and checked-in at 6. It was pretty hectic for such an early hour.

The flight was one-and-a-half hours long. It was a school trip thing so the flight was noisy and my plan to continue my sleep during the flight remains a plan. Once the flight-attendant announced that we have landed, I couldn't contain my excitement anymore and was very amazed by the airport. Kualanamu International Airport is very pretty. Couldn't notice a single ethnical or traditional vibe or ambiance. The interior is very modern and pretty much reminds me of Changi Airport Singapore.

Once we arrived, we immediately headed to the city by bus. Highway, tall buildings, fancy cars, crowded road, trains railway. Heck yeah, I'm in a big city. I didn't sleep during the bus ride at all nor took any picture because, I was busy witnessing and amazed by the beauty of the big city.

We stayed at a guess house called Roemah 28 which is located in Jalan Sei Selayang No. 28. I shared a room with my friend, Vellia. The room's pretty small but it's okay for 2 people. The food and service there were good and the owner was very nice as well.

On the first night we had dinner at this place called, Ayam Penyet Jakarta. Yeah, ironic I know. Why bother taking a one and a half hours flight just to eat a freaking ayam penyet which is from Jakarta?? But, thank God. It was good and free so I don't mind.

I didn't go to tourist destinations places because as I've mentioned above it's a school thing so. we spent most of our times at a school in Medan. But we did visit a mall, though. We visited this mall called Centre Point and woah it's so huge!

I'm glad the food in Medan was good and I did buy Bolu Meranti and Bika Ambon for my family. What's the point of going to Medan if you didn't purchase bolu meranti and bika ambon?!

don't worry!
it's an ice-cream!

I was walking around at Centre Point

On the last day, I woke up very early to pack everything then, we headed to the train station. We took a train to the airport! Yes! If you've read my post about my holiday in Malaysia (here) you know that I LOOOOVEEEEE train rides so much! There's something about train ride that makes me happy, calm, and basically in my very best state of mind. The ride was around an hour long from the city to the airport and the train looks pretty similar to Malaysia's Commuter-Line in my opinion.

If I had the chance to go back to Medan, I would take it and visit more places and enjoy more food. I can't wait to be back. Till' we meet again, Medan.

Love,

Nurra
