My Beauty Diary Black Obsidian Moisturizing Black Mask [Review + First Impression]
06:32Oh wow look at that spider-web and dem dust... swoosh!
Nurra a.k.a. Saturday Grrl is finally back and got her motivation to blog back. Yay!
I don't remember the last time I did a product review. Probably years ago and it can't even be considered as a review because it's not detailed and informative enough, LOL. Well, I was still in Middle School back then I was not eloquent enough. So, let's move on, shall we?
I officially jumped onto the Korean Skincare bandwagon in August, which is a month ago. I ordered my first K-Beauty products on late Mid-July and it arrived on my doorstep in August. My interest towards Korean skincare first sparked in late June but I will keep this story for another time.
So, a few Instagram posts back, I promised @nourishtheskin that I would give an update once I've tried this mask. It's from a brand called My Beauty Diary and it's the Black Obsidian Moisturizing Black Mask. I finally tried it out tonight after pouring acid onto my face (read: chemical exfoliate - I used @cosRX BHA blackhead power liquid). So yes, this review is fresh and I can still smell the scent of the mask while I'm writing this post despite I've taken it off approximately an hour ago.
I've seen a lot of people raved about My Beauty Diary masks online so when I was in Watson's and saw this at the buy 3 for $2 section, I just had to get it!
I was fascinated by this mask immediately after I took it out of the package and seen it for the first time. It's my first time seeing a sheet mask that isn't white and woah! What are those things on the bottom?! Why does it look like Anakin Skywalker?! Turns out it's supposed to cover your chin! Woah!
This mask fits my face and chin perfectly which is rare because most sheet masks don't even cover my entire face let alone my chin. The scent reminds me of The Body Shop Camellia Cream which is very calming and it's not very dominant. The scent is very subtle to the point you have to sniff and put in effort if you want to smell the scent. It does linger once you've taken it off, though. But since it's very calming and subtle, I don't mind.
Based on the reviews that I've read, a lot of people raved on how generous the amount of essence that this product has. I was kind of disappointed because I didn't get as much essence as I expected. The Choonee mask that I bought along with this mask has more essence to the point I can smear it all over my body and after I wore the mask for 20 minutes, there are still plenty of essence on the mask itself! Nevertheless, it still does its job to moisturize the skin which is something that I needed considering my skin was very dry due to the BHA that I applied beforehand.
This product claims to improve dry skin texture and revealing brighter and more luminous skin. It does hydrate my skin but it didn't live up to my expectation. Probably because I left it for way too long (that's why, don't promasktinate kids!). However, I recognized that the redness on my cheeks reduced right after wearing this mask. So, I don't mind it for not being very hydrating (even though it's my fault to leave it on for way too long).
I applied my facial oil right after taking this mask off and let me tell you, the oil absorbed faster than how it usually does. I believe it's due to the fact that my pores are clean because I exfoliated beforehand and my skin is hydrated and supple because of the mask, that's why the oil absorbed faster and worked more effectively.
Love,
Nurra
