November 2016 Empties
03:44Hello! Yes, I'm back with another beauty-esque post. What can I say, the AB world has pretty much taking over my life (and money). But I don't mind, honestly. Taking care of my skin makes me happy and it's a great investment as well for yourself so, WIN-WIN!
This time I will be talking about all the products that I've used up in the month of November. I'm glad to say that I enjoyed using almost all of them but also sad because running out of your favourite products is never fun.
1. COSRX Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol
I honestly bought this product on accident. I just found out about exfoliating your face chemically using acids and wanted to try it immediately. Based on what I read, you need a toner that contains either AHA or BHA in order to exfoliate your face. After hours of research (read: binge-reading fiftyshadesofsnail and skeletale's skincare post), I decided that I would go for a BHA. So, I immediately went to cosrx.com.sg (now MyBeautyMoments) and placed my order without reading the product description thoroughly. Once I've made the order, I stumbled upon a post on Instagram that basically says that this product that I just ordered is meant for calming down breakouts and it acts as an essence rather than an exfoliating toner. I ended up placing another order to purchase the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid and had to pay separate shipments. That's why, do a very DEEP research before buying stuffs especially online where you have to pay for shipping.
Anywho, once the product arrived, I used it and wasn't bummed at all because a lot of reviews show positive reactions towards this product. It did help to calm down my breakouts and clear up my face. I'm honestly pretty satisfied with this product. The texture is very watery and runny, almost like a toner. For someone who has a horrible self-control like I do, you're going to run out of this product very quick because you are going to pump out the product like there is no tomorrow.
Am I going to repurchase this product? As much as it helped to clear my skin up, I'm not going to repurchase it. Unfortunately. But why? Isn't this product work well on you? Yes, it does work well on my skin however, this product contains an animal-derived ingredient which is propolis. As a vegan, I'm trying to keep the products that I use to be free of animal derived ingredients.
2. COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
This is hands down the best toner that I've ever used. Most toners that I've tried before tend to either dry my skin out or do nothing to my skin. I bought this because it contains both AHA and BHA. I was so tempted to try chemical exfoliating to the point I bought everything that says AHA and BHA on the label. My rather impulsive purchase honestly didn't disappoint me at all! This toner freshens up my skin after double cleansing and it also helps to get rid of the dry skin on my face and doesn't dry my skin out. I love this so much and I'm already on my second bottle now!
3. Daiso Japan Natural Pack Charcoal Mask
This peel-off mask is my holy grail! It costs only $2 and works very well to get rid of those annoying blackheads and dead skin cells. Not going to lie, the first few tries hurt so badly. But I've gotten used to it since I've been using this since I was in 8th grade (I'm in 12th grade now). This mask is a 10/10 and if you're going to try this mask for the very first time make sure you have your camera ready to record. Who knows you're going to be on Ellen.
4. Bio-essence Bio Water Power Protect Cooling Sunscreen SPF50+/PA++
This sunscreen is the BEST sunscreen that I've ever put on my face. I'm so glad I made an encounter with this product and I can't describe how big my love is for Bio-essence for creating this. This has SPF50+ and surprisingly, it's very lightweight and doesn't leave any white casts or make my face looking like a disco ball! My skin also absorbs this sunscreen very quickly and it hydrates my skin as well. A lot of people in the AB community rave about the Biore sunscreen. I was honestly tempted to try it but Biore tests on animals and I don't want to support companies that conduct animal testing. When I found out that Bio-essence doesn't test on animals, I immediately went to Guardian and went to the Bio-essence shelf. I was eye-ing on their facial oil but then I saw this sunscreen. I tried the tester on the back of my hand and compared it with the Biore sunscreen tester and they honestly have similar textures! But, the Bio-essence sunscreen has a cooling effect and moisturise my skin more as it contains Hyaluronic acid. I put this sunscreen on my cart immediately.
There's one thing that I don't like about this sunscreen, though. It's the price. It costs around $25 for this small tube and it only lasts for 2 months. I want to be able to repurchase this every time I'm out of this gem but I ain't no millionaire. But I guess that's the price that I have to pay for a top notch product like this.
5. Sukin Super Greens Facial Recovery Serum
I don't really have anything to say about this serum. I wanted to love it so badly but I just can't. I don't hate it either. It's just an okay-ish serum for me. When I first heard about this product, I expected it to be a clear gel just like most serums. Turns out, this serum looks kind of like a sunscreen to me. It's a white rather sticky liquid and takes forever to be absorbed. It does well on hydrating the skin but I've tried better products. I'm not sure if I will ever repurchase this again in the near future. Nevertheless, I still love Sukin for their commitment to make a gentle skincare without harming the animals and environment.
6. Olbas Oil
This is not a beauty product but for someone who suffers from allergy and has blocked nose whenever the temperature lowers, this product is a life-safer. Simply drop around 3 to 5 drops of this oil on a tissue or handkerchief and inhale it. I also used it as a diffuser which is the reason why I ran out of it. I repurchased it right away once I ran out of it.
7. The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil
I don't think I have to say much about this product. It's one of The Body Shop's best-selling products and I've been using this ever since I was in Middle School. But the thing about this product is, my skin gets 'immune' to it after around 2 weeks of applications. During the first 2 weeks of using, it gets rid of my acne overnight. But after 2 weeks, it just doesn't seem to work anymore so I have to wait for like around a month for the next application in order for it to work its magic. I've purchased tea tree oil from another brand and I think I like it better than this one.
8. COSRX One Step Pimple Clear Pad
This product received a lot of good reviews online which is why I purchased it at the first place. It does live up to the hype during the first 3 weeks of using this. Then the 4th week came and just like The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil, it seems like to lose its magic. My skin gets immune to it which is why I'm not going to repurchase it again in the near future. After the 3rd week, it doesn't seem to help to get rid nor prevent new breakouts. But I still used it as a toner and it still works well as a gentle exfoliator. But still, I was rather bummed once my skin got immune to it. Even though it helped to get rid of my dead skin cells, I wasn't really happy about it because the reason I bought it is to get rid of breakouts not to use it as a toner or exfoliator.
9. COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch
Best. Acne. Patch. Ever. I've tried several acne patches from different brands in the past and none of them seemed to be doing anything. But this one immediately won my heart. My acne will either shrink or disappear overnight. Will I ever repurchase it again? Well. I've repurchased it during the Black Friday Sale. I just can't miss it out!
10. Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Mask
Judging from the look of the packaging, you obviously can already tell that I've used it up and went kind of overboard with it. I used this mask for the first time on 2015 and I've repurchased it many times. It's cruelty-free, it's cheap, it's available in most drugstores around where I live, and it works effectively. What's not to love?
11. Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem FaceWash
Wait isn't this an empties post? Why does tube seems full on the photo? Well, I accidentally threw my empty tube while I was cleaning up and this is a picture of my back up. I stocked up on this cleanser when I was back in Batam because it's way cheaper there. I still have another 2 tubes hanging around. I've been using this for a year and can't find anything to not like about it. It cleanses my face well without leaving it feeling tight and it's very gentle too! Since it's from Himalaya Herbals, it's obviously cheap, cruelty-free, and can be found almost everywhere islandwide.
12. Wardah C-Defense Vitamin C Serum
This is actually not quite an emptied/used product. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you might know that I dropped this serum and it shattered all over the place.
It wasn't just this tiny serum that broke that night but also my heart. I've heard a lot of reviews about this product that claims that it triggered breakouts. Well, fortunately it didn't happen to me. It claims to do a lot of stuffs and based on my experience it does help to moisturise and brighten up my skin. It takes time for this product to be absrobed and the oh so fragile packaging is a bummer but well, what can you expect from a $7 serum? I will definitely repurchase it again in the future along with the facial mist. The main ingredient of this serum is glycerin which explains why it's quite sticky and I think it would be good to be worn under make-up.
Pheww! I didn't expect it would take me this long to wrap up this blogpost. I hope this won't be my last time making a post like this. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend ahead!
Love,
Nurra
